Are you looking to become a United States Citizen or do you need legal help with immigration issues? Literacy Volunteers, in partnership with Tompkins County Catholic Charities, offers citizenship assistance to individuals in Chemung County, Schuyler County, and the surrounding areas. 

Services

Literacy Volunteers Assistance

  • One-on-one tutoring free of charge for speaking, reading, and writing

  • Materials and workbooks to help prepare for the test

  • Understanding and accessing community resources

  • Helping families access healthcare

Catholic Charities Assistance

  • Free legal consultations

  • Apply for Deferred Action

  • Free naturalization and citizenship services

  • Assistance with DSS application and appointments

  • Helping families access healthcare and childcare

  • Interpreting/translating assistance

You do not need to travel to Ithaca for many of these services. Literacy Volunteers (located in Elmira, NY and Watkins Glen, NY) can arrange a phone call and do many services in your local area.
