Second Place East is a 24-hour emergency assistance program operated by the Economic Opportunity Program, Inc. in Elmira New York.
Services at Second Place East are provided to those individuals who have a demonstrated need for them and to individuals who are experiencing a crisis in meeting their basic needs. According to need, individuals and families are given assistance with:
Emergency food and clothing, Prevention of eviction or utility shutoff, Emergency Shelter, Assistance with furniture and furnishings, Case management and referrals
Additionally, clients may receive assistance in financial planning and budgeting; and in aid in locating permanent, affordable housing.
Second Place East is located in Jones Court, the dwelling contains apartments sponsored by ongoing donations from local community organizations, churches and individuals.
EOP also operates an Emergency (rental) Assistance Program in Schuyler County. This service is only available when EOP is awarded funding from the Federal Emergency Management Administration.
