The goal of this federally funded program is to save energy and
the homeowner money. ESB accomplishes this goal by making the above stated improvements to
homes.
In addition to increasing the comfort and safety within each
weatherized home, another direct benefit to the home occupant is lower heat bills.
Statistics show that Energy Service Bureau clients save 15 to 20
percent on their heating bills after ESB services are rendered.

You Qualify for assistance, if you receive or qualify for the

Supplemental Security Income
NPA Food Stamps
Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) funds
You receive Public Assistance
Or, if your family size, gross and annual incomes fall within
the guidelines below:

Turn lights off when not in use. Install Energy
Efficient Lightbulbs.
Don't leave a refrigerator or freezer empty. Unplug if not being
used, or fill with jugs of water. An empty refrigerator uses more power.
In cold weather make sure storm windows are down.
Place plastic on inside of windows to retain home heat.
Have your heating system cleaned and tuned reguarly.

ESB installed 1,155 smoke detectors in homes in the last 7 years.

ESB installed 299 heating units between 1994 and 1999.

ESB weatherized more than 4,284 homes in Chemung County and more than 1,054
homes in Schuyler County during the past 7 years.

ESB has installed 371 carbon monoxide detectors in the last 3
years.

In 2000, 106 homes were weatherized in Chemung County.
Providing safe comfortable homes for some 330 persons. Of the 106 homes
weatherized, 11 received new heating systems.

In 2000, in Schuyler County, through the Schuyler WRAP Program,
we weatherized 45 homes, which assisted 63 persons. We assisted 27 families in
obtaining better housing.
