The Neighborhood House was established around 1925 as a center for community, family, and entertainment; and was known affectionately by most in the area as the Nabe. People from several different areas came together at the Nabe, these neighborhoods included: w The 8th Ward w Patch Park w Slab Town w Frog Hollow w John St. w Southside w Roe Avenue
Several generations of families belonged to “the Nabe,” creating a rich history that extends to present day. The Ernie Davis Family Center and EOP are now located where the Nabe once stood, but continue to carry on and enhance the tradition of community and family assistance. EOP’s core programs focus on child care, youth services, and family development.
Many challenges face the youth of today and generations to come in the future, opportunity and the ability to succeed must continue to be presented for our youth and as a non-profit organization EOP relies on private donations to cover the costs of the valuable services that are provided to the community.
